I made it to Madrid! It has been a long couple of days… Things got a little crazy at the beginning of my trip. The night before I was supposed to leave, I got a call that my 12:15pm flight from Minneapolis to Chicago had been canceled. Fortunately, I was able to get a ticket for a 6:20am flight the next morning. I had to scramble to finish packing. I met up with one of my roommates for Spain at O’hare. Believe it or not, she is also from Minnesota! I was so lucky to run into her because I had a ton of time to kill before my flight to London.
The pilot gave us quite the view while flying into London. I was able to pick out all the major sites I had seen while visiting in 9th grade. We finally arrived in Madrid around 5:30pm their time. We were picked up by the program staff and escorted to the hotel where we had a late dinner. I must have been pretty tired because I fell asleep the moment my head hit the pillow and I slept hard until my alarm went off at 8.
The next day consisted of an information session and a walking tour of the city. Madrid is absolutely beautiful. I could not stop taking pictures of the beautiful architecture the entire tour (surprise, surprise!). We were free to do what we wanted after the tour. A small group of us went to a small indoor market and nibbled on tapas for lunch. After lunch, we wandered the city until it was time to move into our apartments. I think I am going to be very happy with my housing situation! More to come on that soon 🙂
