I don’t have much to report from my trip to Belgium. All I knew about Brussels before visiting was that it is known for its chocolate, waffles, beer and the European Union commission. I am a little embarrassed to say that after visiting, I can’t add anything new to that list. I took a train from Amsterdam to Brussels on the Friday afternoon of my March break. I really enjoyed seeing the countryside. I met up with my friends once I arrived and we grabbed a bite to eat before heading to our apartment. We stayed in an awesome apartment we found on Airbnb. We ran around the apartment like 10 year olds until 3am.
The first stop of our day on Saturday was The Waffle Factory. My mouth waters thinking about how delicious those Belgium waffles were. After filling out bellies, we walked to the main square and then on to the European Union commission. There may have been more to see, but we were ready to head back to the apartment for a late lunch and to relax. We were all exhausted after days traveling (my friends were in Rome and Budapest before meeting me in Brussels).
We were able to rally and leave the apartment for dinner. We went to Fritland to try out their french fries with mayonnaise. Sooo ggooooddd. As if we weren’t full enough already, we decided to hit up a chocolate shop and pound another waffle. We finished our night out on a patio at a classic Belgium pub, trying out the local fruit beers. Sitting on the patio was the perfect end to our trip. We all had one of those moments where we realized how great life was at that moment.
