My Morfar (mom’s dad in Danish) turned 75 this week! To celebrate, he invited our entire family to Sanibel, Florida for a week of fun and relaxation. We enjoyed wasting the days away lounging by the pool and playing at the beach. Such a great reminder of how lucky I am to have such a great family.
Sanibel is a dream. As you drive over the causeway from Fort Meyers, you know you are entering something special. The biker friendly island is quaint and boasts beaches littered with shells and sand dollars. Everyone stayed in the same complex of condos, which turned out to be the perfect setup. We all had our own space, but were still close enough to feel together.
(We found out later that the yellow squiggly things in the photo above actually contain eggs….)
Let’s go to the beach, each (let’s go get away)!
Not to rub it in, but the weather was pretty nice. There was plenty of sun to get a good tan! We fell into a routine of hanging by the pool in the morning and then taking the party to the beach around noon once the pool area was too hot.
Tate and Dane kept pulling little creatures out of the water. Those boys were fearless. They built little pools in the sand for their finds so we could all take a peek. I’ve seen crabs, random things in shells, starfish, living sand dollars, you name it!
We had dinner at Mormor and Morfar’s campsite our first night in Florida. My mom’s cousins, Anja and Thomas, were visiting from Denmark and brought lots of goodies from the homeland. They brought the necessary fixings for true Danish hotdogs! Britta and Henrik were being such hams that evening! It is so fun having little ones around.
Many more photos to come!
