My mom’s cousin from Denmark was in town last week, and I had the best time showing her around this city that I love so much! She had never been to Chicago, so we had a long to-do list.
We had gorgeous weather here in Chicago last weekend. Anja and I grabbed lunch at Protein Bar and ate under the warm sun at Millennium Park. We had an eventful evening the night before, so a two-hour nap in the park was in order, hehe.
So dysfunctional hahah
Rooftop bars + Deep Dish Pizza
We met my cousin and his girlfriend at Rock Bottom’s rooftop bar. I LOVE rooftop bars in the city, especially on a beautiful evening. Around 9:30 p.m. we finally made moves to put some food in our bellies. We decided to introduce Anja to some Chicago deep dish pizza. We dined at Pizzeria Due solely because there was only a five-minute wait. It was delicious, but Lou Malnati’s will definitely be the destination next time.
Ann Sather is my favorite neighborhood brunch spot. It is reasonably priced, has mouth-watering cinnamon rolls, and it has a Scandinavian theme!
Can you spot the Danish flag in the photo above?!

I feel like the end of a lot of my posts end up being random photos that don’t really have a place in the rest of the post. I still want to share these because they are fun memories and oh-so tasty! Annmarie and Colin came over for dinner the night after we hung out with them downtown. We felt like such adults preparing dinner on our own that we had to snap a picture! Of course we had to make a stop at Garrett Popcorn Shops (Garrett’s for those of you who are confused). Anja got the Garrett Mix with cheddar cheese and carmel popcorn. So good! I also introduced her to Dimo’s Pizza. Another delicious Chicago pizza place. We inhaled the mac-n-cheese pizza.
